CEBU ISLAND is a destination yet to be discovered, with few western tourists. The remoteness gives a real sense of discovery.

Cebu is one of the 7107 islands that make up the Philippines in South East Asia and lies roughly in the middle of the Philippines Archipelago, 365 miles south of Manila. This narrow island stretches 140 miles from north to south and is surrounded by 167 smaller neighbouring islands. It lies to the east of Negros and to the southeast of Bohol and is flanked by two straits, the Cebu Straight and the Tanon Straight. The equator lies 9 degrees to the south giving the island a warm tropical climate all year round. There is no distinct wet or dry season on Cebu making it the perfect holiday destination. The summer months run from March to September and january tends to be is the coldest wettest month. The people are very friendly and most speak English. The area around the resort is very rural with many of its people living off the land and sea. Fascinating lush tropical landscape with high mountains as a backdrop to an aqua blue sea. The diving is stunning, the weather fantastic and it untouched atmosphere makes Cebu really unique.

The island has a narrow coastline with large coastal plains that stretch to the foot of a steep mountain range that runs from the north to the south of the island. Reef systems hug the coast under aqua blue water teaming with hard and soft coral and tropical fish life. The mountain’s rolling tops host lush tropical jungle with incredible waterfalls, cool inviting pools and cave systems. The mountains catch the tropical storms that pass through the area, providing a fertile area for farming.

Cebu City is the capital of this magnificent island and was the first Spanish settlement in the country, founded on arrival of Spanish troops headed by Fernao Megellan in 1521. This Spanish rule stretched over three centuries and bought Christianity to the island which is now the predominate belief of its people. Cebu has a population of just over 1 million and the local language is Cebuano, a local dialect of Pilipino. English is also widely spoken throughout the region. Filipinos are well know for their hospitality and friendly nature and are keen to interact with visitors, sharing warm smiles and waves.

The province of Cebu has several industries with most of its produce grown for the local market including aquaculture, farming and fishing. The region has also become well known for its production of handmade acoustic guitars, bandurrias (Filipino mandolins), banjos and ukuleles. These quality instruments are amongst Cebu’s major exports. Others include copper mining and ship building. Cebu City has two major shopping malls delivering a huge range of clothing and shoe shops to its visitors.

Kasai Village Beach Resort sits on a peninsular on the southwest coast, a fascinating two and a half hour drive from Cebu City through fishing villages on stilts and over mountain roads with stunning views. The resort is 20 minutes from the small town of Moalboal, a vibrant market town bustling with tricycles and marketers. Panagsama in the nearest village to the resort and is approx 10 min by tricycle or 30 min by foot. A few alternative drinking and eating establishments can be found here. Are you ready to make the Cebu discovery?

Cebu Island Dive Sites
The country is blessed with some of the best diving in the world; its warm crystal clear waters with underwater visibility of up to 60 meters, shipwrecks, drop-offs, over 2,000 species of fish and more than 800 species of soft and hard corals make the Philippines a year around divers heaven. With 334 kilometers of natural harbors, gulfs and white palm fringed white sand beaches, it has the longest discontinuous coastline in the world.

From our Dive Centre in the Kasai Village you can expect the following dives:-

HOUSE REEF Right in front of the diveshop. Our house reef offers a rich variety of hard and soft corals and a huge variety of marine creatures. A great place for night-dives and beginners wishing to take up scuba diving. Many of our Scuba courses are conducted in this area.

TONGO POINT Lots of caves and crevices here, turtles are frequently seen in addition to nudibranchs and many species of shells.Sharks can also be seen with increasing frequency. This spot offers good diving for both the beginner and more experienced diver.

TUBLE REEF A wall dive with a rich variety of soft corals, here you find many shells, big fan corals and plenty of colorful fish.

WHITE BEACH This site has soft corals, gorgonians and sea fans. Here you can also see a lot of pelagic. fish and if you are really lucky you might spot a pilot whale. The beach is really beautiful and unspoiled if you wish you can have a picnic or barbecue on the beach after your dive. White beach is a very popular site for parties after a night dive too!

RONDA BAY Along the coast going north you find Ronda Bay, the newest divespot around Moalboal. You also find a small sanctuary here that is quite wellpreserved. Being a sandy area there are chances of spotting Rays here. Also lots of softcorrals and sea pens.

SUNKEN ISLAND This underwater island raises up from the ocean depths to 25m in the middle of Tanon Strait. As the site can be difficult to locate quickly, we always bring a local fisherman who can find it easily. When you descend from the surface down into the deep blue water you only have the decent line as a reference point until you can see the top of the island looming ahead of you at approximately 20 m depth. Currents can be strong here so it is not a dive for the inexperienced. A lot of pelagic marine life passes by here including schools of tuna, barracuda, manta rays and (if youre lucky) a whaleshark. Frogfish and lion fish are usually in abundance at the top of the island.

PESCADOR ISLAND (Moalboal Marine Park) is now a protected area. This giant mushroom rises from the seabed at 30m-40m. The underwater photographer has a marine paradise here. This is perhaps the best known dive site in the area. The famous "cathedral" is best dived at noon when light streams down into this giant underwater formation. Sharks are regularly seen at depths below 30 m. In the months of December to March you can see a big school of Hammerhead sharks if you go deep enough. Macro photography is very good at shallower depths.Pescador has 450 species of hard coral, probably the most diverse in the world.

UMBRELLA POINT 400 meter after white beach, it is here you can dive on the airplane wreck. It has a nice wall and most of the dives in this area are drift dives. Look for turtles and Napoleon wrasses. The area between 15 meters up to 5 meters is covered with different kinds of hard and soft corals.
