The main resort is situated 20km north of Marsa Alam, 30 min transfer from Marsa Alam airport.

Our smaller resort with the same company 20km south of Marsa Alam, one hour transfer from airport.

Both are close to dolphin house reef for day excursions to swim with dolphins.

The 2 night dolphin safari excursion leaves from the Marina 2 hours south of the resorts.

Best times to Go

We have year round availability on the 7 nights at the resort. Generally the spring and the autumn are best for beautiful sunshine and pleasant temperatures. It tends to get very hot in July/august and January/ February can be a bit unsettled.

Climate

Egypt is in the arid desert belt and is very hot during the day, cooling at night in summer and warm during the day but cold at night in winter (mid November – March). In winter wetsuits are necessary, and warm clothes for boat trips and evenings. Watch for dehydration due to low humidity. Drink far more water than usual and add salt to meals.

Choice of Resort

Your accommodation will be in our main eco-village  resort. (1)

However you can opt to stay in the smaller, quieter eco-village (2) which has the same accommodation options, restaurant, beach and snorkelling. It offers a simple and quiet atmosphere for those who want total relaxation.

This second ecovillage is one hour from Marsa Alam airport and is located in the bay nearest to the Dolphin House reef, so your day boat trip to the dolphins departs from the beachside.

From our main resort you are given a 30 minute transfer to the day boat trip to the dolphins.

Dolphin Locations

There are 2 areas where we can swim with wild dolphins.

The first is offshore reef is situated one hour away from the resort where you can book a 7 night holiday ( LINK ) with day trips to swim with these wild dolphins and snorkel in the magnificent coral reefs where the boat moors up for the day. There are strict guidelines in place ( see zoning) as this is a popular area for divers and snorkellers from the resorts along this bit of coastline.

The second is a more remote reef 2 hours south of the resort. We take groups on specific dates out on our live-aboard safari boat for 2 night ( LINK)3 day safaris. The boat leaves from the marina for the 2 hour trip out to these offshore reefs that are rich in marine life and very unspoilt. A large group of spinner dolphins are resident here during the day and go out to the open ocean to hunt during the night. Here there are very few boats and so we moor up in the calm, protected waters of the reefs for 2 nights during which time we have many opportunities to swim with these dolphins  when they are in the mood for interaction.

The advantages of staying in the area is

  • We do not put any pressure on the dolphins and leave them alone when they are resting and quiet. We let them lead the interaction.
  • There are many opportunities to swim with these highly interactive and playful dolphins.
  • Lots of time  explore the coral reefs and the abundance of marine life at your own pace
  • Sharing this experience as a group is a lot of fun and we have plenty of time to socialise, take siestas and sunbathe on the upper decks. Group size is 10-16 and the spacious boat with 9 twin cabins affords a generous amount of space for the guests. We take zodiacs from the cruise boat to explore various parts of the reef or to meet the dolphins when they are playing.

It is also possible to book a private charter for a dolphin safari for independent groups of 10 people or more.
